Wow, that was easy!

In record time, I just made the final switch over from b2evolution to WordPress. This is my first “WP Direct” post — that is, I didn’t convert it over from b2evolution

Some of you might have seen my little 503 error for a little while, but all should be right now.

Key changes:

  1. Pretty much all of the RSS feeds have changed location. Sorry, but it’s too much annoying work to make all that stay stable, and call me a clod, but RSS feeds aren’t that big a deal to me. If they’re not super-convenient, then they’re not worth the trouble, IMO.
  2. The linkblog is all but gone. The posts are still there, but what I’m showing in the sidebar is a list of WordPress “Links”, which are different in that they don’t have an actual “post” where you can comment. Moving forward, that’s all I’ll be using, but the old posts are archived at the same home that they had before.
  3. All the old permalinks should still work, although the cannonical URLs have changed.

Thanks to everyone who lent a hand in this transition.

And, finally of course:
Net savings in disk space alone due to choosing WordPress instead of b2evolution:
…drum roll please…
662142 MB!

I just can’t get over how very very tiny WP is!

Wow, this is kinda creepy because I converted to Wordpress two days ago. Great minds, right? The biggest difference I noticed was that Wp is less hands-on. I have opened a Wordpress .php file in Notepad, like, once.

662 MB? Sounds like someone never fired a truncate command to their evo_hitlog table! ;)

    Whoops!

I had a site backup in the folder when I tallied up the totals! I thought that sounded a bit off…

Actually, Matt, that doesn’t include the database - all my old b2evo content is still in there, though nothing is using it. I’ll probably drop the tables in a month or if I find that I haven’t needed them for anything.
