Cruft-Free Search Plugin

When I was playing with WordPress’s .htaccess rules, I found out that URIs like /search/asdfsadf get translated into index.php?s=asdfadsf. However, the search form in every WP template that I found didn’t take advantage of that.

Enter the plugin.

This plugin adds a javascript file to the head of each page so that your search forms will lead users to cruft-free URIs.

Don’t use it if you don’t already have permalinks set up and working properly, or your search will be broken.

Read the plugin file for detailed instructions if you run into problems. In most cases, simply uploading and activating should work fine.

  1. Download the plugin file.
  2. Upload to your plugins directory.
  3. Activate it.
  4. If you have any problems, or if you use JavaScript on your page and already have a window.onload handler, then read the file for further instructions.

Howdy! I’m a fan of this neato extension. Just a heads up: I’ve discovered that the Manage->Pages (wp-admin/edit-pages.php) displays posts not pages when this plug-in is activated under WP 2.0.1-2.0.2.

    Nice Work Thanks For That.

While searching how could we make sure that ‘title’ bit searches and changes for the selected word and make the extra addings go ’search/sasasa.html’ like this.?
And two word between % sign instead of + sign … it is more good.

    Yours Faithfully
